There is no single repainting interval that applies to every facade. Paint system, preparation and weather exposure all affect service life.
Fading, fine cracks, blistering and loss of adhesion are warning signs that the surface should be inspected.
Early maintenance can sometimes prevent the need for larger repairs.
Condition determines the timing
There is no fixed repainting interval for every facade. Sun, rain, coastal exposure, substrate and the previous system differ. Record fading, chalking, cracks, peeling and damp separately. Inspect the sides most exposed to sun and rain carefully.
An inspection checklist
Review drainage, window joints, cracks and lower wall sections. Resolving the cause of a small defect early may reduce later repair work. Do not decide from fading alone: coating integrity and moisture may matter more. Establish compatibility with the old system and the required preparation before repainting.
Exterior checklist
- Evaluate weather and surface conditions together.
- Repair leaks, cracks and loose coating before painting.
- Check separate application and protection requirements for primer and finish.
Can I renew only one elevation?
It may be possible with proper preparation, but color and sheen differences can remain visible. Work to a complete architectural boundary and compare a dried sample with the neighboring old finish.
