Decorative finishes create texture and visual depth as well as color. Venetian-style finishes can look smooth and marble-like, while travertine effects imitate porous natural stone.
Concrete effects create a more modern, mineral and industrial appearance.
The final result also depends on application technique, lighting, wall size and workmanship.
Choose between effects
Venetian-style plaster can provide smooth, marble-like depth; travertine effects emphasize porous stone, while concrete effects create a quieter mineral texture. These describe appearances, not identical technical performance. View an actual sample panel with the room lighting and furniture.
What to inspect on the panel
Different trowel movements and finishing coats can change the same color considerably. Assess texture, sheen and edge transitions. Check suitability and any protective finishing requirements separately for bathrooms or splash zones. A catalog photograph cannot guarantee the applicator's result on a particular wall; agree the finish against a sample panel.
Before agreeing the finish
- Approve color, texture and sheen on a real panel.
- Choose primer and protective finish for the service area.
- Record the panel method and application sequence.
Can another applicator reproduce the panel?
Tools, movements, layers and protective finishes can change the result. Record products and stages and approve a larger trial area. Allow for natural variation in a hand-applied texture.
